Daniel Um (B. 2001, South Korea) is a visual artist based in NYC. He is currently earning his BFA in illustration at Parsons School of Design. Recent exhibitions include; Ponderers, 2023, Painters Painting Painting, Online, Sun and Moon, 2022, Turn Gallery, NYC (US).

Primarily working in oil paints, Um’s subject matter focuses on fragments of his life that reside in themes of desolation and states of refuge. This autobiographical activity speaks to this quality in addition to being a reflection of his thoughts, fascinations, and impulse. The resulting compositions are ultimately collaborations between chance and intentions; creating ample room for the viewer to fill in the gaps of meaning.
