About

Born in Denver, CO in 1991, Russi was raised in Wichita, KS and western Colorado. He graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from New York University. While at NYU he studied abroad in Berlin, Germany and worked with professors Maureen Gallace, Sue deBeer and Delia Gonzales. After graduating, Russi began working as an artist’s assistant for Van Hanos, Ian Cooper and David Kennedy Cutler while developing his own painting practice in Brooklyn, NY. 

In 2020 Russi cofounded Chute Projects, a small projects space in the coal chute of his apartment building, to feature exhibitions by underrepresented artists. His work has been exhibited at Reggie Bar (Tuxedo, NY 2022), Cleaner Gallery (Chicago, IL 2022), Halsey McKay Gallery (East Hampton, NY 2022) and Lipscomb University (Nashville, TN 2023). For the month of April, 2023 Russi will be an artist in residence at the Fountainhead Residency Program in Miami, FL.
